CHF International conducted an assessment covering Shelter; Infrastructure; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); and Livelihoods from January 20 through January 29. The assessment covered North Gaza, Gaza and Middle Gaza and was conducted by CHF social workers. A total of 694 people were interviewed: 300 in North Gaza, 334 in Gaza and 60 in Middle Gaza.
Given the constraints of conducting interviews in the immediate aftermath of the ceasefire, the results of the survey are not intended to be statistically relevant but rather to provide a sample of the current situation of families in the three surveyed areas.
Priority Needs:
The questionnaire asked respondents to list their top three priority needs. Due to the wide variety of responses, the top four items are listed below, with the percentage of respondents who listed the item in their top three needs. Respondents who answered "Non-Food Items" generally referred to hygiene kits, water storage containers, clothing, mattresses, tents, blankets, etc.

Shelter Damage:
Respondents were asked to describe the nature of damage to their homes. Due to the fact that many of the respondents were displaced during the conflict and had not returned to their homes, some answers may not reflect the current status of the damage.

Sanitation:
Respondents were asked if the sewage system in their current location was functioning.

Access to Water:
Respondents were asked if they had access to water in the place they were currently residing. In some cases, the issue was that the connections from the house or apartment were damaged, in others it was an issue of lack of electricity for pumps, or that the main water system was damaged. Respondents who said they had access to water were then asked to specify the source of the water.

Infrastructure:
Respondents were asked to describe the level of damage to infrastructure in their communities. The figures represent the percentage of respondents in each area who replied that this type of infrastructure had been damaged.
